    St. Louis Post-Dispatch:  As the Missouri Supreme Court prepares to hear arguments in a case that challenges the state’s $350,000 limit on pain and suffering in medical negligence cases, Tony Messenger tells the story of a couple whose six-month-old child died from an infection that emergency room doctors missed, despite obvious symptoms.  A jury awarded the parents $6 million, but the award was reduced under the state limit.  California law limits awards for noneconomic damages, such as pain and suffering, in medical negligence cases to $250,000.
