• California drivers aren’t getting what they think they’re paying for in underinsured motorist coverage Thursday, May 26, 2011

Orange County Register OC Watchdog: Is underinsured motorist coverage “a raw deal for California drivers”? That’s the question asked in a blog post by Orange County Register reporter Brian Joseph, who says drivers injured by uninsured or underinsured motorists don’t always get the compensation they expected. Joseph says a bill that would change that was derailed in the state Assembly Insurance Committee, where the chairman, Jose Solorio (D-Santa Ana), has seen his contributions from the insurance industry rise dramatically since he was named to the position. The insurance industry strongly opposes the bill. (The bill is co-sponsored by Consumer Attorneys of California; some members of CAOC serve on the board of the Civil Justice Research and Education Project, which funds this website.)
