• Coal mine security chief faces felony charges after deadly blast Monday, February 28, 2011

    Wall Street Journal:  “The chief of security at the Massey Energy Co. mine where an explosion killed 29 miners last April was charged Monday with lying to investigators and ordering the destruction of thousands of security-related documents,” writes Kris Maher. Hughie Stover is accused of training guards at the West Virginia mine to announce over a radio channel at the mine when a federal safety inspector would arrive, in violation of federal law.
