Debt collectors drawing more complaints, lawsuits

McClatchy Newspapers: “Since the recession hit in 2007, federal lawsuits filed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act have more than doubled, while complaints about problem collectors have skyrocketed,” reports Tony Pugh. In the last two years, only identity theft has generated more complaints to the Federal Trade Commission than debt collectors.
