Defective rental car wasn’t pulled, victim’s family awarded $15 million
Wednesday, June 23, 2010
San Jose Mercury News: The parents of two women who were killed when the car they rented crashed were awarded $15 million by an Alameda County jury. Jondi Gumz reports the verdict came a month after Enterprise Rent-A-Car admitted “their negligence was the sole proximate cause of the fatal injuries.” The victims died in a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser that Enterprise was still renting even though Chrysler had issued a safety recall on the vehicle. A power steering hose leak led to the driver losing control and led to the vehicle bursting into flames after colliding with a big rig.
