Discover sued for misleading tactics in pushing “payment protection”

New York Times: Discover has been hit with a class action suit regarding its “Payment Protection” plan, in which cardholders pay a percentage of their balance for the ability to put payments on hold in the event of disability or hospitalization. Jennifer Saranow Schultz writes, “The lawsuit accuses Discover and its agents of using confusing and misleading sales tactics to get cardholders to sign up for the supposedly optional plan.”
