First Gulf of Mexico oil spill suit filed by shrimpers
Friday, April 30, 2010
The National Law Journal: The first lawsuit filed in connection with the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana was filed on behalf of “shrimpers, fishermen and commercial boaters who claim the oil spill is hurting their livelihood,” according to Tresa Baldas. She adds, “The lawsuit alleges that the defendants [including BP and Halliburton Energy Services] ‘knew of the dangers associated with deep water drilling and failed to take appropriate measures to prevent damage.’”
