• FTC asked to require Enterprise to fix recalled rental cars Thursday, August 12, 2010

New York Times:  Hard as it may be to believe, rental car companies are not now required to repair vehicles that have been recalled.  But Christopher Jensen writes two consumer safety groups have asked the Federal Trade Commission “to order Enterprise Rent-A-Car to start fixing every vehicle with a safety recall before renting them to consumers.”  This comes after a California jury awarded $15 million to the families of two young women who died after the Chrysler PT Cruiser they rented from Enterprise crashed and caught fire as the result of an unrepaired problem for which a recall had been issued.
