• Jamie Leigh Jones gang rape accusation finally goes to court after escaping mandatory arbitration Tuesday, June 14, 2011

Houston Chronicle: Jury selection is underway in the case of a woman who says she was drugged and gang raped by coworkers six years ago while working for a contractor in Iraq, writes Jessica Priest. Jamie Leigh Jones has gained national attention for her efforts to take the case to court after her employer, KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton, “asserted that a clause in her employee contract required she settle all claims against the company and its employees through arbitration,” Priest reports. KHOU-TV in Houston has this video report; Associated Press reporter Juan A. Lozano has this on Jones’ attorney’s opening statement. Jones’ story is featured in the documentary “Hot Coffee,” set to debut on HBO June 27.
