Online “cookies” producing privacy concerns, legal actions

New York Times: Tanzina Vega reports on the “growing number of consumers who are taking legal action against companies that track computer users’ activity on the Internet.” Privacy advocates say “Flash cookies” — which can’t be rejected by users the same way as HTML cookies — may allow companies to collect detailed information about consumers without their knowledge.
