`Perfect Flame’ grills aren’t so good after all
Thursday, November 19, 2009
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of “Perfect Flame” gas grills, citing fires and injuries.
About 663,000 Perfect Flame SLG Series Gas Grills, were sold in the United States. They were sold exclusively at Lowe’s retailers between September 2005 and May 2009 for between $200 and $500.
Here is the government’s announcement, together with a photo of the grill.
The burners can deteriorate causing irregular flames and the lids of some models can catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to the consumer. There were about 40 reports of fires from the burners deteriorating and about 23 reports of the lids catching fire. The flames caused burns and an eye injury.
