Sears, Kmart settle suit alleging prices were more than advertised

Contra Costa Times: The parent company of retail giants Sears and Kmart has agreed to pay $900,000 in civil penalties to settle a consumer protection suit filed in Marin County Superior Court by attorneys general of six California counties. Gary Klien reports Sears was alleged to have charged customers more than the advertised price for some merchandise, while Kmart was alleged to have inaccurately charged customers California Redemption Value recycling fees for beverage containers in some stores.
