Buyer Beware

  • That morning jolt Friday, September 18, 2009

Sometimes, that morning coffee is a little too strong, like when it melts.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of certain Black & Decker-brand coffee makers, warning that they could melt and cause burns.

The coffee makers were distributed by Applica Consumer Products Inc., and sold at Wal-Mart and other retailers from April 2008-July 2009. The recall involves Black & Decker 8-cup programmable thermal coffeemakers, made in China. The model number, TCM1000IKT, is printed on the rating plate on the bottom of the device.
