Amid troubles for the auto industry, a revealing report by the American Association for Justice details just how many safety improvements have been incorporated into the world’s automobiles because of the American legal system. The detailed report includes a schematic of an average car showing the multitude of parts and pieces that have seen improvement because of prodding by attorneys for plaintiffs who have had to use the civil justice system after mechanical malfunctions caused injuries and cost lives. A provocative look at a topic that most folks, amid the tort wars and the corporate push to stem the rights of consumers to file and fight lawsuits, simply don’t recognize in the face of the ubiquitous auto industry advertising campaign.
