Toyota waited 12 years before fixing problem that led to loss of steering control

USA Today: Documents revealed after a lawsuit filed by California attorney John Kristensen showed Toyota was dealing with cracking and breaking steering relay rods for 12 years before recalling nearly a million trucks in the U.S. that had the problem. James R. Healey writes, “The steering rod records that are part of the lawsuit again call into question whether Toyota promptly reports safety problems in the U.S.” (More coverage of Toyota safety issues is available here.)
