Toyota’s Spin: Don’t Worry, be Happy

A day after ABC News reported that Toyota‘s own techs had experienced sudden unintended acceleration in vehicles that were then repurchased in an apparent attempt to hush up the situation, the auto giant had whipped up its PR machine to report that there was in essence nothing to worry about.
Toyota’s response drew an immediate rebuke from industry watchdog Safety Research & Strategies Inc., which declared in an on-line blog report that the PR gambit “rates a 10 on the SRS Ridiculometer.”
