U.S. Chamber backs off “membership” claim
Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Mother Jones: Josh Harkinson reports the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has stopped saying it represents “more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region” on its news releases. The group’s membership is actually about one-tenth that size. Harkinson writes, “It would be more accurate to say that the Chamber ‘represents the interests of a small number of big-business donors that profit from polluting the environment and exploiting their workers.’”
