Monday, April 5, 2010
New York Times: “The Transportation Department said Monday that it would seek a penalty of $16.375 million against Toyota — the maximum civil fine allowed — for failing to notify the agency of the dangerous ‘sticky pedal’ defect for at least four months,” the Times reports. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said, “We now have proof Toyota failed to live up to its legal obligations.”
